Recognized as one of the Top 50 Leaders in Learning & Development, 2019 – Americas, shawn has become an influential thought leader in the areas of culture, strategy, leadership, learning & development, talent acquisition, and human resources. A highly sought-after collaborator and partner, shawn is a frequent guest speaker, conference chair, events emcee, panel moderator, awards host, and conversation facilitator, delivering compelling addresses and insights across the US and abroad. As such, he was asked to chair the first ever L&D Influencers Forum in London, UK. His influential keynotes and video learning bytes inspire learners and leaders to embrace their inherent creativity. Music Career and Training
Trained as a classical musician, shawn enjoyed success as a concert pianist, trombonist, and conductor of orchestra, opera, light opera, and musical theatre. Shawn was selected as one of the few conductors to join the inaugural class of the American Academy of Conducting at the Aspen Music Festival and represented the Unites States in a select group invited to participate in the Vakhtang Jordania conducting competition in Kharkov, Ukraine. As a conductor, shawn worked with the uppermost echelon of musicians in groups like the Minnesota Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Annapolis Symphony, and many others. shawn’s performances often received high praise and acclaim from critics and audiences alike, and he maintained a full-time career as both music director, resident conductor, and guest conductor simultaneously with numerous organizations. His interpretations and vision led him to frequently participate in interviews and guest lectures including repeat appearances on CNN Headline News and numerous appearances with multiple classical radio stations. After being selected as a Texas high school all-state trombonist, shawn played in college and professional orchestras, jazz bands, operas, chamber groups, and wind ensembles and performed at world class venues including the Meyerhoff, the Meyerson, Boston’s Symphony Hall, the Kennedy Center, and in performances with Arlo Guthrie at Carnegie Hall.
Art and mystro’s gallery
An avid artist, shawn maintains a prolific creative output of sketches, drawings, pottery, paintings, and sculptures. He is a frequent arts collaborator, both curating arts exhibitions and judging art competitions in the DFW area and beyond. Having sold over fifty pieces of original art through his brand ‘mystro’s gallery’ via online sales, art shows, craft fairs, RAW exhibitions, chocolate and art shows, and open studios, shawn was also selected to participate in the Dallas Art Battle live painting competition in Deep Ellum. His works can be frequently seen in local galleries and online shows and have won multiple awards including first prize in juried exhibitions. Operations and Training
shawn has run contact center training and operations for multiple brands providing 24x7x365 global support via chat, email, and phone in the US, India, Philippines, Canada, and Mexico. He has ideated contact center solutions for start-up and established businesses alike while creating compelling training programs for diverse audiences in multiple cultures across the globe. shawn’s programs have generated incremental lift in performance across industries including wireless devices, accessories, financial solutions, retail, and government support contacts. He has procured and implemented technological solutions including predictive analytics, workforce management, learning management, content management, payroll and benefits systems, and recruiting and onboarding platforms.
Education and Certifications
shawn holds a doctor of musical arts degree from the Catholic University of America, a master of music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, and a bachelor of music degree from the Algur H. Meadows school of music at Southern Methodist University. He is a facilitator of the John Maxwell 5 Levels of Leadership and a certified analyst of the Predictive Index.
